Professor Francalanci’s areas of specialization are romance philology, romance linguistics, and Mediterranean Studies. His research interests include medieval romance literatures (Catalan, Spanish, Italian, Occitan, and French), medieval and early modern Iberian Studies, and European Petrarchism. As a romance philologist, Francalanci is particularly invested in exploring the plurilingual and transnational dimension of the literature produced across the Western Mediterranean during the Middle Ages and the Early Modern Period.
