Professor Goulding holds concurrent positions in the Program of Liberal Studies and the History and Philosophy of Science Program. His areas of specialization are the history of optics, the history of magic, and the development of humanism and science in medieval and Renaissance universities. His recent book is titled Defending Hypatia: Ramus, Savile, and the Renaissance Rediscovery of Mathematical History.
