D’Arcy Jonathan Dacre Boulton, Professor of the Practice of Medieval Studies and Concurrent Associate Professor of History, will offer a research colloquium entitled “The Myth of Chivalry: Another False Construct of Modern Historiography and Its Roots in (and Persistence through) Slovenly Methodology.” His paper is available to those attending the colloquium in a pdf format (639 KB).

Prof. Boulton’s research focuses on the comparative social and cultural history of nobilities in Latin Europe (1100-1600), sigillography, and heraldic emblematics.

Twice each semester, a Medieval Institute faculty member or advanced graduate student presents his or her research for collegial discussion in the MI Research Colloquium series.
