Eastern Iran and Transoxiana, 750-1150: Persianate Culture and Islamic Civilization

The Institute for Iranian Studies at the University of St. Andrews (Scotland), in association with the Medieval Institute, is sponsoring a two-day conference that will bring together leading specialists in the field to explore why and how Khurasan and Transoxiana became one of the most culturally and politically dynamic areas of the Muslim world, from the launch of the Abbasid revolution to the empire of Sanjar.

The conference web site provides detailed information and specifics about registration. For speakers and lecture titles, see the preliminary conference program.
