A Celebration of the 750th Anniversary of Dante’s Birth

Session 1

Vita nova - Zygmunt G. Baranski, Notre Dame Professor of Dante and Italian Studies, University of Notre Dame, and Emeritus Serena Professor of Italian, University of Cambridge

Cosponsored by the William & Katherine Devers Program in Dante Studies and Italian Studies at Notre Dame, a series of lectures on the poet Dante’s so-called “minor works” will take place on eight Thursdays throughout 2015, beginning in January and ending in November. Twelve prominent scholars from the U.S., Italy, and the U.K. have been invited to speak. Each lecturer will address one or more of the “other works” by presenting the principal interpretive trends and issues relating to the text and focusing on some of its particularly interesting aspects.

In conjunction with the lecture series, University of Notre Dame Press will publish a “companion to Dante’s other works.”
