The graduate students of the Medieval Institute are pleased to announced that the re-scheduled date of this year's student-invited speaker lecture on Thursday April 21, at 5 pm in the Medieval Institute Reading Room. The speaker will be Peter Loewen of Rice University, the author of Music in Franciscan Thought, an interdisciplinary study on the use of music in Franciscan hagiography, art, theology, and philosophy in the thirteenth century. His lecture will be on his current research on vernacular song and Franciscan preaching and is titled “Music in Early Franciscan Practice.” The lecture will be followed by a reception.
