Amy Remensnyder Lecture: “La Conquistadora: The Virgin Mary, Christians, Muslims, Jews and Indians in the Pre-Modern Spanish World”

Amy Remensnyder, Associate Professor of History, Brown University, earned her A.B. summa cum laude from Harvard University, studied at Cambridge University and the École des Hautes Études, and received her Ph.D. in history from the University of California at Berkeley. The author of a book about medieval monasteries and collective memory in southern France, she is currently finishing a study of the Virgin Mary as a symbol of conquest and conversion in medieval Spain and colonial Mexico.
