Seminar with Christina Normore, 2012-13 Mellon Fellow

“A Feast for the Eyes: Art and Performance in the Late Middle Ages”

Each year, the Medieval Institute selects an outstanding young scholar for the A. W. Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship in Medieval Studies. The Fellowship allows a tenure-track assistant professor to pursue research leading to the publication of a monograph. At the conclusion of the Fellow’s period of residency, a panel of senior scholars are invited to campus for a half-day public seminar discussion of the Fellow’s research. The panelists spend additional time with the Fellow in one-to-one conversation and close reading of the draft.

The 2012-13 Mellon Fellow is Christina Normore Assistant Professor, Northwestern University. She will present an overview of her book-in-progress A Feast for the Eyes: Art and Performance in the Late Middle Ages. Prof. Normore received her Ph.D. in 2008 from the University of Chicago, where she received the prize for best dissertation in art history. She has taught at Reed College and Beloit College as a visiting professor, and she is a past winner of a Fulbright grant (2005-6) and a Smith Fellowship at the National Gallery (2007-8).
