Johnson Lecture: "Understanding Bodiam Castle"

The History department presents a talk by Prof. Matthew H. Johnson, "Understanding Bodiam Castle." This talk will discuss recent work on Bodiam Castle and its landscape. Most current studies of castles address a ‘symbolism/defense’ debate. This work at Bodiam moves beyond this dichotomy by thinking about Bodiam as a place of work. Understanding Bodiam means bringing ideas of lived experience and political ecology together at a series of levels, from the smallest of everyday actions to the global scale.
