MI Working Group Meeting: Medieval Women's Learning and Literacy

-

Location: 715J Hesburgh Library (Medieval Institute Main Seminar Room) (View on map.nd.edu)

This working group explores women’s intellectual history by looking closely at what and how women learned in the Middle Ages, and what relationship(s) they enjoyed with literacy. Like their male counterparts, medieval women were capable of acting as forceful political agents; rigorous, and even transgressive theological, medical, and legal thinkers; innovative authors and artists; and courageous champions of ecclesiastical and social reform.

All are welcome to join the meetings. Readings are circulated over the Google group; to be added to the group, simply email the graduate student coordinator, Emily McLemore.
