The Medieval Institute is pleased to announce a new annual lecture series, the Mathews Byzantine Lectures. The Mathews Lectures will bring a distinguished scholar of Byzantine studies to campus each year to deliver a talk, supported by the Rev. Constantine Mathews Endowment for Excellence in Byzantine Christianity in the Medieval Institute.
The inaugural lecture that was planned for October 2020 has been rescheduled for October 2021 as part of the university's response to the coronavirus pandemic. The October 7, 2021, date is tentative at present and will be updated closer to the fall 2021 semester. The inaugural lecture will be given by Professor Emerita Margaret Mullet (OBE), a past Director of Byzantine Studies at Dumbarton Oaks.
