Conference (International): "The Road to Rome: Aspects of Religious Conflict and Mobility in the Greater Mediterranean, 700-900"

"The Road to Rome: Aspects of Religious Conflict and Mobility in the Greater Mediterranean, 700-900" is a two-day conference at the University of Tübingen co-organized by Jeffrey Berland, a Medieval Institute Ph.D student, and Dr. Federico Montinaro of the University of Tübingen.

"The Road to Rome" focuses on Rome as a dynamic crossroads of conflicts and exchanges in the broader Mediterranean, extending Dr. Montinaro's 5-year project, "Religiöser Konflikt und Mobilität. Byzanz und der weitere Mittelmeerraum, 700-900," which is funded by the Emmy Noether-Programm (DFG).

Scholars were encouraged to consider religious conflicts and exchanges in this period beyond their own field or geographic specialization. Since the conference selected work by who have recently written papers in the field, all presentations will represent new trends in scholarship and ground-breaking material.
