Dr. Alani Hicks-Bartlett will deliver the second lecture in our Annual Department Lecture Series. Titled “Pictures, Plastics, Shadows: Representing Loss in Medieval and Early Modern Literature,” the talk will take place in Geddes Hall Auditorium on Thursday, November 3, at 5:15 pm.
Alani Hicks-Bartlett is Assistant Professor in the Departments of Comparative Literature and French and Francophone Studies at Brown University, with affiliations in the Department of Hispanic Studies, the Program in Early Cultures, the Program in Medieval Studies, and the Center for the Study of the Early Modern World. Her research interests include gender and violence in Medieval and Early Modern drama; disability in Early Modern “autobiographical” literature; power, empire, and authority in Medieval chansons de geste and Early Modern epic poetry; and voice and intertextuality in the Medieval and Early Modern lyric tradition.
