MI Alumnus to Serve as Scriptor of Latin Manuscripts at Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana

Stephen Metzger, Ph.D.

The Medieval Institute offers heartfelt congratulations to alumnus Stephen Metzger on his new position as Scriptor of Latin Manuscripts at the Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana!

Metzger graduated with his Ph.D. from the Medieval Institute in 2013 with a dissertation titled “Gerard of Abbeville, Secular Master, on Wisdom, Knowledge, and Contemplation,” under the supervisor of Professor Kent Emery.

As Scriptor of Latin Manuscripts, Metzger will work to develop catalogues, inventories, and other bibliographical tools to make the BAV’s Latin manuscripts more accessible to scholars.
