The Department of Classics, the Medieval Institute, and the Center for the Study of Languages and Cultures are pleased to bring you the joint Summer 2020 Classical, Medieval and Near Eastern Language Institute, making available Notre Dame's exceptional range of ancient and medieval linguistic expertise to the broader scholarly world.

The Medieval Institute has long had strengths in Greek and Latin and will be offering multiple courses in each language. In addition to language courses, the MI offers a course in Latin Diplomatics, taught by Reverend Canon Doctor Federico Gallo, Director of the Biblioteca Ambrosiana. This course has been offered previously at the Medieval Institute and is the only course of its kind offered in North America.

In addition to its courses in Greek and Latin, the Medieval Institute is pleased to introduce Beginning Syriac for the first time, taught by Professor Adam Bremer-McCollum. This course represents the Medieval Institute's expanding focus on the languages and cultures of the Mediterranean and the Middle East.

All courses offered through the Medieval Institute's Classical, Medieval and Near Eastern Language Institute are open to graduate students from other universities.
