Profile
I am mainly interested in Patristic and Byzantine theology, especially how later Byzantine authors understood and adapted earlier Church Fathers. As for many scholars of Byzantine theology, the bulk of my interest lies in the 14th century, but everything from the 3rd century on is fair game. I also find myself dedicating time to questions more related to ecclesiastical history than theology proper, especially the rise of religious life in both East and West and the influence this has had on ecclesiastical structures. Lastly, no summary of my work would be complete without mentioning my interest in Saint Paul and the reception of his writings in Byzantine theology.
