Havelok in Hand: Freedom and the Mobile Reader”

Andrew Taylor, Professor of English, University of Ottawa, concentrates on the ways in which texts reached their audience of readers in medieval England, that is, on the history of reading, especially leisure and contemplative reading, and on the history of minstrel performance. His current research project is a study of Richard Sheale, a sixteenth-century harper. Prof. Taylor is the author of Textual Situations: Three Medieval Manuscripts and Their Readers (2002).
