Support the Institute

Thank you for considering a gift to the Medieval Institute at Notre Dame. We welcome gifts of all sizes. Your support will help us provide an excellent Liberal Arts education for our undergrad majors and minors, train the next generation of medieval scholars in our prestigious Ph.D. program, and continue to attract the world’s leading Medieval Studies experts to the Notre Dame faculty.

Established in 1946 to study the Latin theology of medieval Europe, the Medieval Institute is the oldest and largest center in the United States dedicated to the study and teaching of all aspects medieval culture. Our work continues to be shaped by Notre Dame’s Catholic mission in its frequent focus on the religious dimension of medieval experience, whether of Catholics, Orthodox, Jews, or Muslims. But our sixty-five faculty fellows and twenty-five Ph.D. students carry out research on an enormous range of topics—from Old Norse poetry to Byzantine liturgy to English monasticism to Coptic language to Latin manuscripts to Middle English prose to Muslim theology to Greek chant to Dante’s Commedia. Your gift will allow the Medieval Institute to continue this outstanding work.
